United States hot rolled cold (HRC) steel prices edged up by $2 a short ton or 0.3% week-on-week to $680 a short ton in the week ended August 22, as per The Steel Index.

According to TSI, stability prevailed in the US hot rolled cold (HRC) steel market, as prices inched up to $680 a short ton (FOB mill) earlier this week.

As US mills reportedly have healthy margins at the present price level, transactions continue to settle in the price range we have been seeing for the last couple of weeks.

With the upcoming maintenance closures and steady demand, it seems that the market has reached a temporary state of equilibrium and HRC prices are showing resistance to moving away from the current level.
